I got tires of having tape measures bend and flex when trying to check toe in by myself.
So with a 6' piece of 1/4 square tubing, some wire ties, and an old beat up tape measure I
Made a Toe in stick.

I drilled the end of the stick for a 1/8" split pin that I sue to grab the tire tread with.
I wire tied the tape measure to the 1/4" square tubing. Electrical tape the ends to the tubing so you don't cut
yourself on the sharp ends of the tape measure.

I made the toe in stick long enough to be able to check toe in on my larger trucks.

You can buy something like this from Eastwood, but I didn't think it was worth over $100.00.

Old Fart w/Wrenches

When I do an alignment, I construct a reference rectangle around the car using my aluminum straight edges. They are both equidistant from the centerline of the car to avoid dogtracking down the road. A toe bar doesn't take this into account. Once the straight edges are in place, I can measure from them to the front and rear of the wheels to find the individual amount of toe on each wheel.

Your image hosting account has different links depending on the end user. The links you provided were for a picture to show up on a twitter account. I used the links for "image".
