Hi I recently bought a 1996 geo metro with 1.3 auto in it. Also equip with A/c and power steering. It a sedan too.

So my question what is the average of this setup. I know the 4 cly and the auto killing it the most. Also is there improvement in mpg if I lower it a 1 or 2? I haven't own a week yet to know my current mpgs.

I'm posting a link to my cardomain for it. I bought it where I work someone had traded it in. So I bought it for grand total of 979 bucks. It will roll 74,000 tomorrow.

I have read that lowering a car 5% percent, in most cases increases fuel efficiency 5%, by reducing your frontal area and reducing air under the aerodynamically dirty undercarriage.

I do not know much about the auto 1.3's though. I am sure it will be a great little car for you though. And Welcome to Metro-forum.

Well I bought it since I drive to work 50 miles round trip. I got one car that get better than 20 so it wasn't a hard choice.

Welcome to the forum. I would start by just getting a good baseline for your first tank. Getting a good start reading on mpg will help you later on to judge the effectiveness of different driving habits and mods. After that I would look at driving habits. Check out Ecomodder.com and click on the Hypermiling tips. There is some good stuff in there.

Greetings :cheers

I hear you can get about 40-45 MPG max depending on how you drive, but the average is high 30,s which is still pretty damn good. If you run down the Interstate at 70+ miles per hour, don't expect good mileage.

Well had filled it up the other day and then went on a 138 mile trip and came back to the same station and filled up again and it only took 3 gallons. So first try is 46 mpg which I think is high for my setup. I drove like complete grandma and took it easy and kept the speed limit. Since the last fill up haven't been to easy on it so I already tell it not as good. So I have realize this isn't my 13 second shelby charger it not going to acclerate the same.

Well this last tank I wasn't easy on it and it showed. Had 186 miles and used 6 gallons so it about 31 mpgs. This next tank I'm going to go easy on it and see if I can get back to where I was.

I have a 98 1.3 auto 2 door. Around town with a lead foot gets 34-35mpg...in 20k miles it has never done under 34mpg. Driving mostly on the interstate at 65-70-75 mph gets between 35-38 mpg. My highest tank was 46.5 mpg and that was driving 45mph. I've had a few tanks run 41 mpg too.

I just bought a 93 1.0 4dr auto and hope to get at least 40 mpg on the highway. I'm in Florida so it's at sea level and flat...which should help.
