im probably getting around 30 to 33 mpg right now,i know i can improve on this, but im a real novice to engines and fuel economy,i mean i can do abrake job or replace batteries, starter, alternator, that type of thing or wire in anything you want in electronics, build anything in computers,im a computer tech, but im pretty green on the whole true mechanixs part of a car, eager to learn though......

Thanks in advance for any insight..... :news

We need to know what your driving route (normal) is like and what speeds you drive and where you live. Then we go from there. One of the best ways is to "Adjust the Nut Behind the Wheel" and you can read about that HERE

i drive approx 4 miles to work, about amile of it is at 55 then the rest is in town, live in oklahoma, southeast, wife takes it about 30 miles twice a week to her moms, its on highway, speed limit is 70,generally she drives about 60......i dont know why they never put another gear in the auto trans,i think the higher rpm on the highway hurts the mpg big time, how much would new plugs and a breather help,i plan on changing them this weekend,,,but very intrested in any other mods i could do.....also i get some squeel when i first start after it sits for over an hour,it goes away after approx a minute......im guessing this is the alternator belt, plan on tightening it on sat too

Well, with a short trip to work like that, the car is never getting it's best mileage in "Closed Loop" mode until it's actually warmed up. I highly suggest using a block heater (even in warm weather) and set it on a timer for 2 hours before leaving in the morning. Here is a guide on a heater bbjsw10 posted.............

As far as the highway trips go, keeping between 50-55 will net better mileage, but sucks going slow. Maybe a few aeromods like removing the passenger mirror, blocking off some of the bumper, or an underbelly pan.

Read the tire sidewall and see what the MAX pressure is. Inflate the tires to max and this will increase mileage. Also remove excess weight where you can.

Good luck!
