Since my accident my AC/fan will just cut out randomly. It doesn't matter if the car is hot or cold, it just stops no air movement at all, then maybe a couple of hours later it will kick back in. Sometimes it works right off when I start the car and sometimes it doesn't. It has to be some sort of electrical issue, but i have no idea what since it works fine randomly. Any ideas? |

Have a look at whether you have any crimped wire(s) running back from the a/c condenser fan where most of your damage occurred. |

Good call, I'll check on that and report back. I haven't had time to take the front bumper apart and properly assess all the damage yet. I'm scrambling to find alternative transportation while I do the repairs. |

Easy one! Link--->How to Fix Fan Speed Selector Fix '95+; Zip Ties!!! Probably popped loose in the wreck. The take apart is for a '95+, but you'll get the idea. |

I will try that, I haven't been able to come up with anything better so far. Although it will have to wait until I can get the car running again, just died on me and I haven't been able to get it started. So priorities! But I'll get back to this. |

I finally got around to investigating this issue. I haven't been driving this car hardly at all so it was a low priority. Anyhow I tore apart my console area in an attempt to follow the instructions in the tutorial and discovered that my 89 is completely different than the 95 vehicles in the tutorial. The fan switch is largely unaccessible and doesn't seem to be made the same way anyhow. So I did the best I could fiddling with it and it was just not working. The switch itself has a nice strong click in all the positions and it just wasn't making sense to me. Finally by total happy accident I discovered that if I bump the key just right then magically the fan would kick in, which in hindsight makes a lot of sense given that your key can wiggle while driving. Anyhow, not sure exactly how to fix this issue, the Radio always comes on and stays on no matter what, but if I don't have the key just right then no fan. Anyone experience this before or have any ideas? I sort of thought that if the radio had power then the fan would have power, is there a different switch for this? |
