Interested to know if anyone has found either a way to upgrade the manual steering rack to compensate for the lack of a support bearing on the driver side? Or alternatively found a stronger compatible rack that would bolt in? I'm about to replace inner tie rods .. unless there us a better option out there. . Edited by suzukitom, Oct 7 2016, 10:47 PM.

You can check out a couple threads on Redlinegt.com about people upgrading to power units, but I don't think that is what your talking about. The only reason I think they are doing that is that it is a pain with LSD to steer without power. I have never had a problem with the actual rack itself just the inner tie rod ball joints rusting out. I highly recommend dropping the entire rack to install inner tie rods. It is a lot easier. |

When I look at rebuilt rack and pinion steering manufacturer descriptions.. they talk about polishing the old rack back to specs and installing sleeved bearings. . I wonder how machining an old part can address worn rack teeth? |
