Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Think charcoal crispy/burnt in half. There are two separate wires that look as if they were wound around a skinny pencil - they should be intact.
Do I have to remove the ECM just to get to the resistor?
No. Now please just go get started.
I looked and I can't find it..thats why I was asking.calm down

Don't worry - I'm calm. If you reread your posts you will see that you never mentioned having looked (so only you knew...) We're here and willing to help but it's much harder to do so with incomplete information.

If you removed your glovebox, look to the left, you'll see a plug with wires plugged into it, can't miss it..

Go sit in the passenger seat, scoot it all the way forward so your feet are jammed forward practically into the firewall. Take note where your feet are, Look at the black plastic tube your left foot was resting on/just under.

It is above the passengers feet. Held in place by a single screw and has an electrical connector going to It with 4 wires in a single connector. Unplug the connector, remove the screw, remove the old one. A stubby screwdriver helps a bunch as room is a bit snug.

While not required, in the '95 and up models, if you remove the three 10MM head bolts behind the glove box that hold the ECM in place, you can swing the ECM out of the way. No need to unplug it. You don't have to do it, but if you've never done it before it makes finding the resister MUCH easier and easy to get to.

I'll update the zip tie fix page to show this. It needs some new pics anyway. Rudolph looks nothing like that now! :lol

Well the windings look good, but you won't know for sure till you do a continuity check on em.. Continuity good, no continuity bad..

By the way that resistor looks, I'd venture to say that you're evaporator probably has a layer of gunk on it, restricting air flow thru it, and your fan motor is probably gunked up to, I'd pull the blower motor out, clean it good and oil it, worst case scenario you may need a new blower motor..

Even though i completely loose all blowing after the very low speed?

Hi,

My metro only blows on the very low speed which is basically useless in Arizona :smackface . I have done the zip tie thing and so i know the switch is fine but now im stuck and im kinda getting tired of walking into the office with the back of my shirt dipping in sweat :) .Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks!
The "zip tie thing" is not really a fix, more of a band aid. I prefer to remove the entire switch assembly, clean and inspect it, then reassemble. Then using a light duty spring clamp to hold it, glue the edges. no need to over do it with the glue, just a nice bead along the edges where the plastic clips are.

the pix of your resister look good, but I could not see the spot that you said the solder connection is bad.
