Hi,

My metro only blows on the very low speed which is basically useless in Arizona :smackface . I have done the zip tie thing and so i know the switch is fine but now im stuck and im kinda getting tired of walking into the office with the back of my shirt dipping in sweat :) .Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks!
The "zip tie thing" is not really a fix, more of a band aid. I prefer to remove the entire switch assembly, clean and inspect it, then reassemble. Then using a light duty spring clamp to hold it, glue the edges. no need to over do it with the glue, just a nice bead along the edges where the plastic clips are.

the pix of your resister look good, but I could not see the spot that you said the solder connection is bad.
I had a geo metro buddy do it and he used a metal C clamp I think...I'm afraid to try to check cause I'll loose the bearings and springs

i've already removed the glove box on my '01 lsi, but i'm having an embarrassingly hard time finding this resistor, even though i have the new one ready to go :'-( Anybody got a schematic or photo or anything? I'd greatly appreciate it! I don't really do this sort of thing but am giving it a go ^.^

The resistor is mounted in the blower box. Removing the glove box is more for reaching around to back of the switch itself.

Thank you!! So my next question then, is where do i access the blower box? Is that under the hood near the air filter?

Passenger footwell, behind the glovebox. It's a black plastic housing, in the lower left corner you should see the wires going in to the back of the resistor.
Here, I stole this picture from bbowens' ad on ebay, part number 16 of the upper right assembly:
