Do you calculate sweat equity into this formula?

Just by way of an update..the transmission was completely out of oil. we added oil and the gears turned freely. Don't know where the oil went, or how long it was running dry. we're putting it all back together again and testing for leaks.

Don't be surprised if it howls like crazy, or doesn't want to shift right. Hopefully it will be driveable. I think I would just try some 30 weight or 10w30 just for a test run, before dumping in Sychromesh. Gotta find that leak too.

R.E. the Question about sweat equity: My 1st. response would be the old car restorers formula.
"For every dollar you spend , You can pretty much figure You get 50 cents back. And your working for free" :smackface )
But, With a little contemplation I would offer two possible ways to re-figure "The balance Owed"
Modification 1) Get an estimate for needed repairs from a reputable shop, and use that figure as your cost factor. That way you are in effect putting a dollar figure on your time. (a purely accademic exercise if you ask me, But the OCD side of me that puts everything in" neat little compartments" , Or in this case,"Neat little accounts" could really find alot of joy this way. ^o) ^o)
Modification 2) Just use your actual Costs, and "Pay it off" Quicker. Neater , cleaner, (Less Math :thumb ) I think I'd tip this way.
Great Question: (Even if you through a monkey wrench into my neat little carefully crafted formula :shake :shake )

(You ----> :evillol ) ^o) ^o)
Best wishes, Jonathan

And a surprising amount of family drama has come out of all this, which is probably a more a reflection of my family than it is a reflection of the car repair process.

The issue is well-intentioned, highly-opinionated extended family, but thanks anyway.

Update: The well-meaning relative who insists on helping me out with the vehicle when my work schedule keeps me away has managed to cut several wires in the wiring harness the last time he pulled the engine out. As far as I can tell, he couldn't figure out how to disconnect them, so he just cut them.
I have to get this car out of his reach, and without hurting his feelings.

He hurt your car more than he helped. :smackface I wouldn't worry about hurting his feelings. :shake
Good intentions or not, if you can't separate a connector, stay away from the car. :oshit

-tell him the lord told you to do it-
That wouldn't fall under the category of 'true', so there's that.

You could accidentally hurt his body. You only said you didn't want to hurt his feelings.

So the latest...after a series of awkward family politics, my green 95 is back on my property and the repairs are back under my control. We will be sorting through various issues caused while she was out of my sight, but first this problem: she won't start.
I have fuel at the throttle body, but no spark at the coil pack. I replaced the coil pack with no change. I have a brown/white wire and a black/white wire going into the coil pack, that according to my Haynes manual goes to the Ignition module and a 20 A fuse. I have found a 60A ignition fuse in the fusebox, but no 20.
I tried checking for 12v going into the coil pack, but either I was doing it wrong or it wasn't there, I was probably doing it wrong as I got the exact same readings on a separate Geo that runs.

Do you have any codes set in the ECM.

Click on the link below and look in section 6E2-A2 ENGINE COMPONENTS WIRING DIAGRAMS DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS UPGRADED EMISSIONS. Use the engine cranks but not start procedure. starts on page 20.
