while taking a break looking for machine shops I would read "93 3 cylinder rebuild" by ice on page 23 of the engine tech section-any experience gained from doing your own work is good even if you have to learn from your mistakes-just in case you can't find someone- |

Since you are planning to use a machine shop, it's important that you understand the factory specs/tolerances well enough to give them precise directions for the work you want done. The only place to find the correct tolerances and specifications you need to know is in the factory service manual. Just my opinion, but instead of diving head first into a possible black hole money pit of an old, cheap Metro that that will almost certainly need additional money sunk into it above what you pay for it, I would take that money and put it towards getting the best rebuild you can for this one. |
