Forgot His Manpurse

Hey guys! Posting for a friend. He's got a 1.0L engine that quit while driving on the highway. Headlights were found dim, oil was found to be really low. Had battery re-charged. There's evidence of an oil leak although really slow. Re-filled up the engine with oil and inspected fuel and spark. It should be working. but we're getting this nerve wracking noise when attempting to start the car. https://youtu.be/uR3dy1qqJqs Compression for the engine /was/ 190 for every cylinder about 6 months ago. Now, I'm concerned he may not be getting compression at all because his engine just went kaput maybe! |

Start with the basics. Check the compression, spark and fuel. Check and see if the timing marks on the crank and cam gears are lined up properly. How old is the starter? Edited by freegeo, Nov 25 2016, 02:25 PM.

Quick check to see if the timing belt broke, unscrew the oil cap off the valve cover, crank the motor and see if the cam is turning. |
