Dumb question but do these geo metros run different without a thermostat ?
Found out mine does not have one when I got it and idles a bit higher than normal ,
Also the blower motor does not come on in any fan position ? Relays and fuses good.
Any diag steps to test that ? Sorry again for the dumb question lol

na, the only "dumb question" is an unasked one-I would say that yes these engines do run different without the thermostat because that can cause them to run in an open loop which will effect how they run-maybe myredvert will chime in he's the man for ecm stuff-very knowledgeable-as for the blower maybe you can straight wire it to the battery to see if it comes on, if it does check your switch

Running the engine without a thermostat can cause it to run somewhat different.

The stock thermostat temp rating is a 190.

Blower motor could be the the switch itself (highly likely), the blower motor resistor (modestly likely) or the motor itself (far less likely but it does happen). First thing I would do is check for voltage at the fan motor electrical connector.

it is also important to have the correct stat.......there are two options, one (95+) runs a rubber seal and the other does not.

without a stat your engine will be slow to warm up, may not warm up in cold weather, (cold= +/- 20 DF).

the incorrect warming will effect how long the ECU will keep you in the "choke" mode.

If you're lucky, someone was just too cheap to replace a failing thermostat, or didn't think the do a cooling flush to fix poor cooling by the radiator. If you're unlucky, you'll put one in and discover there was a reason it was pulled when it overheats one sunny afternoon, in which case you now have to figure it out before it does any (more) damage...
