Quick question for g13ba and g13bb engine experts: Can you swap a G13BB 16v SOHC head onto a G13BA 8V SOHC short block? The valve relief into the tops of the pistons is obviously different. . Just wanted to know if this is a critical difference on a stock motor. Thanks! Edited by suzukitom, Dec 3 2016, 01:40 PM.

I bet it wouldnt be a non interference engine if the belt broke at the least. |

Thanks Mark. You're right.. the non interference feature must rely on matched pistons for each head configuration. I was curious whether a stock g13ba 8v short block would (with an intact timing belt) run normally with the 'wrong' sohc 16v head attached to it. |

Yes it will run good but as you say if the belt brakes you are in trouble. I did this to a 98 4dr about 3 years ago and it ran great! At the time that 8 valve short block was all the owner could find. His his 16 valve short block was not repairable big hole in side of block. |

I checked it was 180 psi per cylinder after I did it. |
