Hello, just joined because of fuel pump concerns with my '94 1.0 liter. I turn the key, and can hear it priming, for well over a year, then the tone changed, and it began bogging down under load. Now it doesn't fire, and there is no longer any sound of a fuel pump priming, much less, loud enough to hear continually as I go down the road. My concern is I could be wrong, and the issue isn't as dire, more minor. An electrical glitch, clogged fuel filter, water condensation icing in the fuel lines restricting fuel flow. I welcome all thoughts. And is there an access plate in the floor under the back seat so that I don't have to drop the gas tank? Thanks. |

unfortunately there is no access cover under the seat... some people have put one in. If your pump isn't running when you turn the key on, then it has no fuel pressure... check fuses and wiring first. |

No access plate to the fuel pump. The tank has to be dropped. Before doing that you should try doing the diagnostic procedure for the fuel system. There is a copy of the 94 fsm here in the forum. If you need a link to it I can do it after work. |

I found the '94 FSM. Wading about in it and not finding what I'm looking for. I'm struggling with the organization of it. My experience has been with older engines that have no ECUs. My inclination is to put in a new fuel pump and filter. If that isn't the issue, it couldn't hurt. And if it is, I'm back on the road, which I need to be by Monday. I have the fuel filter off and it wasn't pretty. I removed the top hose first, which is the filtered side, and fuel was flowing, so my assumption is that it wasn't overly clogged, but maybe enough to kill a weak pump, struggling in freezing weather?

94 fsm library. Look in section 6E2-A1 for standard emissions. Section 6E2-A2 starts around page 22. |

Thanks again freegeo. I think my head is starting to wrap around the logic of this manual. I've never dealt with OBD systems before, but fortunately have access to a reader (?). I feel a bit overwhelmed. |

If you don't have fuel pressure at the throttle body. Check voltage at the pump and make sure the ground for it is good. Just follow the procedures in the manual. |

"now it doesn't fire"-----the pump or the car? "loud enough to hear continually as I go down the road"-----the pump? does the car start? Run? Have you pulled the fuel delivery line at the TB? got fuel at the TB? what happens if you put the fueldelivery line in a bottle and turn the key? |
