Cold air at feet on most settings

While I get warm air in the defroster, and face vents, cold air will blow at my feet. The air flow isn't as strong as normal either. Unless I switch it to feet. Is there a leak in the ducting, or something with the selector? I hate taking the dash apart, all this 20 year old plastic will probably disintegrate if I tried to take it apart.

look under the steering column side of the dash...both cables can be seen...move the temp and the vent control levers to see them move...the fresh air cable is attached to the blower motor box... :type

First...Welcome to the Fun... :greet

Now...you could have multiple problems...
But the first easiest is to check the vent/heater cables for operation,
Defrost and heat control cables are behind the radio housing and can be seen by looking near the gas pedal,
the fresh air cable is near the right kick panel attached to the blower box
if you have low blower volume read this:

Also the ductwork between the blower and the heater box could be leaking. Especially if you don't have A/C, very easy for a passenger to knock it loose with their left toes.
