I'm adding a radio to a 1997 lsi metro hatchback. It didn't previously have a radio. I purchased a Boss 611uab single din and metra 70-1782 wiring harness. I matched wires (black to black, red to red, etc) and was left with a blue (antenna) wire remaining coming from the receiver and an orange (dimmer) wire leftover from the wiring harness. What should I do? Splice the blue with orange? Or just cover them? Thanks! |

Cover them. Little chunk of electrical tape on each and you're good to go. |

Thank you! That's a relief! I'm following all of your walk throughs for the rear speaker install tomorrow. This forum has been so helpful! |

One is to tell the power antenna to go up and down, obviously not an issue on a Metro. Our dimmer circuit is wired in a very weird way, if you hook that up you might blow fuses, or you might have a dimmer that works backwards. |

actually, on higher end head units there will be 2 blue wires, darker and lighter. one is for a power antenna and the other is a "turn on" signal for an external power amp. because of the way the metro dash lighting dimmer is wired, a convenient way to connect the orange wire for display dimming is to connect it to the circuit for the corner markers or tail lights. that way whenever you turn on your lights the orange wire senses a constant 12v and dims the radio display.

![]() Yeah, but this only matters if you have a stereo that needs a dimmer input - many of them, any more, seem to not need it. |
