What engine is in your 2000 Metro. Do you have a 3 or 4 cylinder engine?
(1) Does it run any differently when it is cold vs. hot?
(2) A compression test would provide an initial idea of the internal condition of your engine and what to do next.
(3) Did you check for any loose or dirty wire connections (Eg. Ground wire(s), TPS sensor connector, O2 sensor connector, etc.)
