I'm guessing you took offense to that remark? My sincerest appologies; particularly if you, or any of you family, is of Korean descent. To clarify, while it may still have been a Kathy Griffen-esque offense, it wasn't my intentions to diparrage ALL Koreans, just the ones that took part in or otherwise supported things like, making death threats toward a particular athelete, or playing video games that involve trying to shoot a likeness of an athelete in the head. I can understand that their short track ice skating Olympic program is a large source of nationalistic pride for many Koreans, nonetheless, I can't embrace threats of violence over it, or any its competitions outcomes, regardless of anyone's perceived unsportsmanlike conduct by any of it's competitors. It's a SPORT, for gosh sakes! Grown ass people, acting like children. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2010/02/20/ohno-reviled-athlete-south-korea.html "The American short-track speedskater, who goes up against the South Koreans again when he races for a historic seventh Winter Olympics medal on Saturday, may well be the athlete South Koreans hate the most. One company once sold toilet paper emblazoned with Ohno's face: Ohno joyfully winning the gold, Ohno kissing his medal, Ohno laughing. One video game features an Ohno character you can shoot in the head, and to call something "Ohnolike" is to deride it as a dirty trick. Hatred of Ohno is said to have fueled anti-American sentiment back then, and it doesn't help that his father, Yuki, was born in Japan, the nation that colonized Korea from 1910 to 1945. South Koreans try to trounce Japan as often as possible on the playing field, and Ohno is not exempt. The animosity toward Ohno grew so heated that the entire American short-track team withdrew from a World Cup event held in South Korea in 2003, citing death threats against Ohno. In 2005, the athlete traveled in South Korea, reportedly under the guard of police." ...and further appologies extended to Mythstae, for mucking up her thread. </unnecessary political discussion> |

And you probably won't find a lot of Sapporo beer to drink there, either, for the same reasons. |
