Any color text is possible on GMF!

Just noticed this.
The forums red preset:color=#ee4a2d

It's been a few years since I've had a coding class but I realized that is three concatenated(squished together) 2 digit hexadecimals.

Little refresher on hexadecimal to help explain.
Hexadecimal is represented 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b, c, d, e, f
Reading it is the the same normal numbers or binary. Only it is base 16 instead of base 10 or 2.
So 10010 would read as 6416
25510 is the largest number that can be displayed with 2 hex digits, it would be ff16

Back to color=#ee4a2d .
See it is for red and I made the logical guess it is RGB color code since ee is much greater than 4a or 2d

This specific code means it has ee(238) red intensity, 4a(74) green intensity, 2d(45) blue intensity

Forum red: RED!
vs. a pure bright red: RED! which is represented #ff0000

Making colors with emitted light is different than reflected light. That's why green not yellow is a primary color here. If you want orange use a red value, half that intensity green and no blue.
So like #984900 , this shade of low intensity orange. A very burnt orange. Or use equal intensities of red and green to get yellow shade like #dcdc00 for a mid yellow.



So yes this may be a bit technical but I hope you could follow me. After looking up a pixel RGB value in MS Paint from an image I think I may start coloring my text in my favorite Metro paint color!

In order to do that find a pixel you wish to use the color of with the color picker, like in this case (0, 150, 135) and convert the numbers to hex by dividing by 16, write down and then subtract the whole number and multiply by 16, so it became (00, 96, 87 )

This was an exciting discover for me ^o) .
