I've owned Metros and Swifts for so long, I've almost forgotten how other cars drive.. as you may know . I've got an Esteem wagon rehab project underway and I'm liking it a lot.. it's quiet, smoother riding and shifting, and with a standard, almost as good on gas on the highway. Many of you have used Esteem parts in your Metro builds .. like seats, mirrors, (and engines)... but how many of you have ever driven an Esteem, or actually own one? If so, how do you like it compared to your Metro ?

No Esteem. 8 Metro/Swifts, an Aerio, and a Kizashi. Spent 110K miles in the Aerio, it's a very close relative of the Esteem. I loved it, and my girlfriend goes on loving it to this day. |

Driven and repaired Esteems, nice ride and not too bad to maintain, but around here they are even more rare than the Metro, and getting trim/body parts is scarce...only other Suzuki I own is a '03 XL7...wife's daily driver, very good and dependable.

I just Googled images for the Suzuki Esteem. Nice looking car. The wagon looks very similar to another car, the Subaru Outback.![]() ![]() At least they look similar to me. |

Hi, A couple years back I took on trade a GLX wagon auto,AC,Tilt, cruise,Full power,CD. Moon-roof alloy. wheels. I had to drive it back from I-falls on the canadian border, I was rather impressed with it.It was a pretty blue/silver two-tone. It needed minor bodywork, so I put it in the shop and got it fixed up and cleaned up. I had planned to drive it for a few months but a "Cidiot" (One or our beloved names for the the tourists from the "twin Cities" who spend the summers blocking up our roads But spending huge money {But I digress }) drove by, saw it, he popped in told me that he had picked up one just like it for his daughter's high school driver. It had lasted her through high school, college, and two years of marriage so far with only maintenance. being needed. He asked what I wanted for the one I had, As he had another daughter with a newly minted drivers license. He purchased it and I have been kinda looking for another loaded example(GLX wagon) to Fix up for myself ever since. ( I want a stickshift GLX, but I've never seen one offered and the GLX may have been auto only for the US market) All I Find are super high miles and pretty beat up. 200k seems to be no problem. I have in mind a slammed sedan delivery sort a thing.Thats my 2 cents worth ,Best wishes.Jonathan Edited by Prairie to pine, Jun 10 2017, 02:21 PM.

Woodie, you are a true Suzuki/Geo fan.. right up to the last model sold on North America. Geogonfa, here on the west coast the used wagons are popular for skiers, surfers and college students. At least until the subframes rust out. Wizard93 the outback is a half ton heavier and much more powerful but it does look a lot like a 125% scaled up Esteem wagon. Jonathan, the 5 speed manual is available in Esteem GLX trim but they are as rare as hen's teeth. ( like the AWD 1993 Suzuki Swift 1.6 sedan). I think the Esteem would have been a volume hit if a version had been offered by GM from 1996 to 2002. Instead GM went with the Daewoo built Chevy Optra wagon a few years later |
