I will be going to O'Reillys later & I am trying too use the SAME "Refrigerant" 4 my tiny "Vessel" I see sum light blue on the "Refill" pipe on the AC so does that mean uncle used R134? I DONT even turn on my AC until im in NO hurry too get home & I have plenty of gas as U kno the AC running takes 90% of engines power & about how long will the R-134 last? Does ut depend on usage? TY for all your help....its 116 here so I dont wanna put too much on my engine she is already at 200,079 "Good Girl" :D

If you have a small leak, a new can of R-134A will only last you about a week whether you turn it on or not. If there are NO leaks a can (12oz) should last you a year or more. Once in, it's good till it leaks back out. Get the can with a built in gage, so you can fill it but not overfill it. good luck. It's hot back east too.

If your AC gradually warmed up a leak in the system may be the culprit
If your AC suddenly went warm the refrigerant compressor may not be kicking in , to trouble shoot the compressor with the engine running have someone turn your AC from off to full blast while you listen at the engine bay with the hood open , when your compressor kicks in you will hear a clicking / snapping sound within 30 to 60 seconds after turning the AC on , if it stays silent the compressor may be the culprit
Good Luck 🙂

Just my .02...Metros newer than 95 used 134a though I have seen some 94's come with it stock...so thats what you need because a 98 is designed for it...a slow leak can be found using a product like
"Interdynamics R-134a with UV Leak Detection Dye " and the use of ac gauges; Harbor Freight A/C R134A Manifold Gauge Set , tho they cost about 60 bucks, because adding freon to a system without knowing what the pressures are can be dangerous...It could be low on freon but it could also be a plugged expansion valve...you can't just tell without both low and high side being checked...low side could read 0 to 45 degress at the same time the high side could read 350 to 400...which normal would be 200 to 250...and then if you find your leak and repair it, you would want to rent a vacuum pump from the local parts house, and use the gauges to pull a vacuum on the system to rid it of moisture (134a becomes corrosive when moisture is in the system as well as reduces cooling capabilities)...
