In some countries the Geo Metro was sold as a Subaru Justy....with All-Wheel Drive. I'm wondering if anybody ever converted their U.S. Geo Metro or Suzuki Swift to the AWD drivetrain. I'm sure if someone wanted to, they could have the drivetrain components shipped here from a country that had the AWD models. It would come in handy in the wintertime for sure. What do you think?

The floor pan of the Justy is entirely different. Could you do it? How much welding rod do you have? |

I bet awd would be nice on one of those off road geos that people have made. speaking of snow...my geo actually drove fine in the snow last winter. the people driving 4wd's and awd's around me probably thought I was crazy plowing through the snow. |

As EG said, the bottom of the whole back end is different. All of the mounting points for the differential and suspension links aren't there for us. Neither are the mounts for the dual fuel tanks. There was a guy named William from the Netherlands who hung out here for a while, had a 97 Justy. http://geometroforum.com/topic/2685800/ Here's a pic of him racing around the Nurburgring.

Sounds like too much work for me. Maybe later I'll try and find a US model Justy somewhere if there are any left that are not rusted out. |

Metros are beasts in the snow anyway. Just add a good set of studded snow tires. |

US Justy has nothing in common with a Swift/Metro. |

I own both. While the Metro's are great in the snow with good snow tires, the 4wd Justy is far superior when the roads get really ugly. No comparison. 4wd certainly isn't a necessity but it sure makes winter a LOT more fun! |

You own an European 1994 to 2001 Justy or a U.S. Justy? I would love to get my hands on a 4wd drive European Justy. |
