My profit margin so far from parting out my '95 Metro is $2,150.
That's an interesting option. . . wife would not be happy with me leaving a picked over carcass in the driveway.

Got the latest car insurance packet today. Get this, with "$159.99" in discounts (good driver, economy car, multiple policy) insurance is $388 on the metro every 6 months!!! That seals the decision to downsize and off the Metro.

RedPepe, I do remember you. I was also thinking maybe Richard Kaltenbach (sp?) might want it. He's in Cali somewhere.

Regarding rust - I drive the coast and I never wash the car. Frame horns are great, but the finish is poor. And I'm sure one of the door drain holes was plugged. We hardly ever get rain so I'm surprised it happened, but it did.

Horn, There's a few places that rent VW tools. The VAG reader is only $5/day to rent, 3 day minimum based on the time in my hands. Already picked up a used turbo in case I need it down the road (I think it was $125).
The car insurance is pretty high. I went with a smaller company for years and then I tried Geico to group with a home insurance. I was only carrying minimum with the smaller company and for full coverage with Geico my rates were ridiculously low. I couldn't pass it up.

Kaltenbach would probably want it, but, unless you already have his contact info, you may be out of luck - he recently asked to have his account deleted.
Bummer. I never had his info.

Is there anyone that would know it on this forum?

Don't do it! Long live Metros!

You will remember us when you need to work on that VW...

Did he finally move to the Philippines and get away from the California LEO's and the BIG ASSHOLE TRUCK DRIVERS?!

If not you could try to find an Encino CA(I think) phonebook if that's his real name.

I think you should keep it JBD. But if you have to sell it, go CL.

I'm going to donate my 2000 altima next year to Cars for Vets. I would not do that to a metro.

Car donations end up getting auctioned first, if no buyers, they are sold for scrap value. A Veteran will not be getting my old Altima, unless they purchase in auction.

In 2019, I'll be getting rid of the 2000 Ford Contour bi-fuel - unless I cannot get it to pass emissions this month. Then it's going to Cars for Vets. I would rather hold on to this car at least for the summer, as the AC is ice cold!

The Altima no longer has functioning AC and I have not found anyone who can fix the emissions problem on it which expires next year.

If it came down to getting rid of my 93 and 89 Metros, I would rather sell than donate. Or chop up one and make it a three-wheeler hybrid.

I found a phone number for a Richard Kaltenbach from Encino, 55 yrs old, but when I called it it was disconnected :(

Decided to donate my Metro. No further miles to be put on it. Will save the battery but that's it. End of an era!

I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Considering how many miles you've managed to put on that car, JBD, I think it deserves a good home, somewhere in the Smithsonian, near Archie Bunker's Chair.
