Over heating above 80 degrees; Too Hot in Summer/Too cold in winter

Ok, here's the problem I have been fussing with for a year. BTW, 95 Suzuki Swift, 4 cyl. w/TBI
When I first got the car there were no problems with the coolant or heater. about 3 months after I bought it, one of the heater hoses split, luckily I was in town and able to make proper repairs, (new hose & coolant) Since then when the air temp is over 80 degrees and I go up a long incline (fast or slow), the temp gauge slowly starts climbing and will redline if I'm not careful. Once I'm on the flat or going downhill the temp goes down. During the winter, the best heat I get is low, about all it will do is defrost the window.
Here is what I have done, replaced thermostat (twice), blown out the heater core (not much crud in there) I've also replaced the radiator cap twice and done a complete flush on the system. Nothing has changed. If I'm driving on level roads, it can be hundred degrees and the gauge stays right in the middle, or I can let the engine idle all day, no problem. But as soon as I hit a long incline, it starts to overheat.
I'm just about at the point where I'm ready to replace the engine with a spare I rebuilt, I'm that frustrated :banghead
Oh, here's the rest of the story, I put white paper under the car and let it idle for an hour, not a drop on the paper. After driving and overheating, I let the car cool overnight and then I have to add about a pint of coolant to the radiator, yet the overflow tank level never changes, It doesn't suck coolant in or overflow when its hot.
Oh ya, the radiator fan works properly too.
Any bright ideas out there? PLEASE!!!!

Sounds like you have air in your cooling system. When you flushed it did you park on an incline and "burp" the radiator?

Just curious...how old is the radiator?...could have a partial clogged core...

The coolant has been drained and refilled several times in the last year. I always have the front end on ramps and when filling, I stop and pump the lower hose for about a minute several times during the filling.
The radiator is probably as old as the car, I did a complete flush on the radiator, with it out of the car. it looks very clean.
I don't think there is a head gasket problem, all the cylinders show good compression, I have never seen white smoke in the exhaust. If pressure were leaking into the coolant system, wouldn't I have this problem all the time.
NEW INFORMATION: When writing out this problem for the forum, it occurred to me that the overflow tank has never over flowed or been drained. I took the tank out and found that the hose from radiator to tank was completely plugged. Not sure how long it has been that way but I cleaned it out and reinstalled it. Will be testing the car later today, when it is hottest, and will let you know what I find.

On a complete drain of just the radiator on a G13 SOHC, about 4 liters of coolant can be refilled after warm up. If you have no visible leaks, it does point more to a head gasket or other internal leak.
