Hello All, My 91 3/5 has a seat belt problem. Last week when I went to use it it was too loose as in the lower retractor would not pull the slack in. Next time I used it it was operating normally. Now it does not allow the lower belt to come out at all. I have tried the wiggle giggle with no help. Any known problems with this or thoughts on repair? I've been on this site for a few years and have never seen a problem like this. Going to open up the door shortly and see what I can find. 3 Pot |

Wd40? Lol. Its probably the little locking mechanism inside the seat belt retractor, on one side theres a panel that says do not open, under the panel which I have opened there is a little black, green or red switch that tells the seatbelt when to stop, I just removed it on some seat belts from a Cadillac that my friend wanted in his truck. I'm not 100% sure on the color of the switch on a metros mechanism I've only seen it on other vehicles. |

If the seatbelt is in the door then it has an electrically operated switch as well. It might be a good idea to make sure the switch is operating properly. When the door opens it is supposed to release all the tension so the belt can be left attached and the door opened. |

When I went to work on it, the belt retractor was working fine. So I left the door buttoned up and tried my luck and it gave little problem. Well it's back to messing up again. It works one day and then the next time you get in it sticks again. Metromightymouse, How would I go about testing the switch? if it's the same one that turn on and off the dome light, the light appears to be working properly. Although I have not tested the light operation when it sticks but the light does illuminate when the door opens. Does the ignition key switch have any effect on it's operation? 3 Pot |

Not real familiar with them, just what I read here. If the dome light it working it implies that the door switch is working properly. I would find the wiring for the seat belt and make sure it's getting 12v when it's supposed to and not when it's supposed to be off. Fairly good possibility it is an issue with the seat belt itself. |
