Injector #2 question; Misfire due to closed Injector - MK2 Turbo
Topic Started: Sep 3 2017, 08:39 PM (207 Views)

Just curious... Is it normal that injector went bad than #1 and #3?

I recalled to replace the injector #2 last summer due to misfire... now at this time, injector 2 stuck closed again... Is it just bad luck or what?

I meant how the hell injector goes bad?

It's MK2 Turbo. (1989-1991 G10T)

I am not the familiar with the turbo engines. Are you saying the # 2 injector failed last summer and then again this summer, but 1 and 3 have remained ok? Was the one you put in last time a oem type or aftermarket? New or used?

Yes just #2.. both #1 and #3 are fine and function.

I used "good used" injector from my other fuel rail. (My previous engine ran pretty good)

Of course new and used injector could be big different but I am curious why and what is it cause the injector stuck closed. I would be upset if the new injector get toasted again... :lol

It could either be electrical bad or mechanically stuck due to being dirty. Would you be able to check the amp draw on the injectors?

Sorry for double post...

Just read this article, http://injectorrepair.com/knowledge-base/

Quote:

Sometimes Injectors Get “Stuck” Closed After Sitting Around Too Long: Use a small 9 volt battery to check for stuck injectors before installing them in an engine. Just listen for a click. If it clicks, then it is not stuck. If it is stuck, a light tap on the body of the injector can usually free it. BE GENTLE!!!

This is probably why.

Edit: Not exactly 1 years.. I did start up my T3 in previous car sometime. like less than 2 times a month.... I wonder if 3 months of cold snowing caused this . :hmm

I am more toward to Mechanically failed. The old fuel could be building the dirty over time... heck the fuel filter is like 4 years old.

Testing the amp? I don't want to fry the ECU with just DVOM.... Maybe fine if I have the oscilloscope. :shake

For measuring current, an ammeter probes would be connected in series with the injector circuit.

Yes, I am still not feeling comfortable to use DVOM on the injector system because injector is directly controlled by ECM.. I don't... never want to touch ECU with DVOM... I don't care if it's professionally opinion.

T3 ECM is extremely rare as gold now.
