So I was checking the datastream on with my computer, and noticed that my downstream o2 sensot was at 99%. Could this be why my car dies when it returns to idle? |

No, downstream O2 has nothing to do with fuel trim. It only tells the computer to throw a code if the cat isn't functioning properly. You can take it out of the exhaust and the car will still run and drive the same. It is commonly tucked up on the passenger side strut mount, wrapped in foil when people straight pipe their exhaust. Their could be a lot of reasons your car dies at idle. if I start having driveability issues, I always start the diagnoistic process by doing a compression test and replacing the plugs with three new ones. |

What do you mean by 99%. What data display are you looking at on the scan tool? Dystopiate666 is correct. The rear O2, checks how well the cat is performing. It won't effect your engine performance. Check the short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim at idle after the engine is up to around 175F. The short term fuel trim will fluctuate a little. See what the range is. Do you have any code set in memory? Edited by freegeo, Sep 13 2017, 05:06 AM.
