hello, sorry its been so long. i have a 2000 chevy metro lsi 4dr with auto and air 1.3L 4cyl. i have had a misfire on #2 under load for about two years. there is oil in #2 plug well and i think thats why. could someone please tell me if the valve cover comes right off or if i have to take off the timeing belt cover or loosen it at the top and push it to the side? also whats the torque on those 6 bolts that hold down the valve cover? anything else i need to know? wish me luck replaceing my gasket and thank you. |

Is the oil on the electrode side of the plug (combustion side) or oil on the outside of the plug from oil run down on it? There is a valve cover gasket and seals. Make sure you get everything you need when you work on it. No need to do it twice. Torque value is 97 lbs. in. |

I am not that familiar with the 4 cylinder. I will look it up in the FSM tonight after work and post it. |

Although my timing cover is removed in order to do a timing belt service, you can see the red arrow pointing to the bottom of the valve cover which is just sitting on the head, in this view behind the timing belt cover. There are no obstructions or hidden bolts, so the valve cover should be held on by only the 6 visible valve cover bolts and without having to remove the timing belt cover. ![]() Edited by suzukitom, Sep 20 2017, 06:03 PM.

This is from the 1999 fsm. It should be the same as yours. Let me know if it isn't. Good luck.
