Mr1 Kingsbury has a good point. When you worked on the throttle body did you take it off the intake or remove anything other than the injector? A vacuum leak can cause some idle problems. Check those things 1st since work has been done on the engine.

Yes, I've check for vacuum leaks.
What bugles me is that it's having the same symptoms. Like what else is there that could cause the surging idle?
The night before last, before I replaced the injector, I went for a drive and as I often did I would turn the engine off then on again and the idle would reset and go back to normal. Well the other night I did the same and it would not re-start. I sprayed fuel started and started right away.
I really need some help here!!!
Thanks for helping.

Exp. builder/rebuilder

I am beginning to suspect a 'bad' signal somewhere to the pcm or a failed component in the pcm. may have to do a bit of wire tracking, diagram research, and multimeter sticking.

I did a CEL code check and found all these:
13
21
23
31
46
51
Which should I tackle first?
Thanks,

I just finished reading a thread here and surging was caused by the TPS. I will check it and try to adjusted tomorrow.
I'll post the results.
Thanks,

That's a lot of codes. Was the check engine light on?

There is no code 46. Can you re check it.

You may want to make sure you don't have a bad ground wire.

Yes, it was.
That's not normal to have that many codes at 1 time.

Was any sensors or a ground off with the key on while you were working on it?

I will double check the codes tomorrow.
I will clean every ground wire I find with sand paper.
Thanks

I cleaned the ground connections of the negative from the battery to the gear box, one that's by the distributor and the one in back of the intake.
I replaced all the thin vacuum hoses, (I think 4 or 5mm internal diameter).
Took it for a drive and the same.
Disconnected the vacuum hose to the map sensor and the surging stopped but rpm's went up. Disconnected the wire harness to the map sensor and surging stopped. Reconnected it and surging started again.
Turned the engine off, went to check the codes again and the radiator fan turned on with ignition key to the on position and the CEL did not flicker. Started the engine again and rpm's went to 5000 and turned it off quickly.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

CLC

Have you cleared the memory of the ECM? Unhook the battery for about a minute and retry stating the car.

Since your MAP sensor made a change then maybe it should be checked out. Check and see what the reference voltage and the signal voltage is?

I disconnected the battery and the idle is normal. I won't have the time to take it for a drive and bring it up to temp.
I'll keep you posted on Monday.
How do I check the MAP sensor? Where can I find the voltages?
I really appreciate your help!

Glad to hear it is atleast somewhat normal. Try driving it and see what it does.

Let's not mess with the MAP for now. It is one of the important input sensors the ECM uses.
