Vacuum hoses

The vacuum hose that goes up to my air box from the silencer on the IAC valve mounted to the back of the TB seems to be constantly pulling a vacuum. If I tape over the hole, the idle comes down considerably. I'm assuming that at warm this should stop pulling a vacuum?

I guess I need to figure out how to test it/ repair it.

If you unhook the vacuum source to the IAC and the idle goes down then the IAC is not shutting off. The IAC should work once the engine is warmed up and a electrical load is applied.

Usually the small flat spring breaks and doesn't allow the vacuum source to be shut off.

So, for now I could just plug the vacuum port that goes to the IAC valve and adjust the Idle manually? I read something about fixing it with a spring for a pen?

I'm not excited about the idea of removing the IAC from the TB because it looks like its been really locktited on there. I have a feeling the phillips head of the screw is just going to round off. I don't feel very comfortable using heat that close to fuel either. It seems to me that Vise grips might be my best bet.

You can just plug the vacuum source for the time being.

Here's the "how to" on the IAC fix...... http://geometroforum.com/topic/4804867/1/

I've accessed the IAC without removing it from the TB..... Remove the air cleaner , bend back the 4 tabs on top of the IAC and it gets you access just as you would have to if you removed it from the TB..... A little tight but very doable.

If you keep the file size to 200 kb or under you can use this.

I used the chrome fix and it worked for me. Maybe for once I just got lucky.

For now, I have the TB port that goes to the IAC plugged. I set the idle at warm to around 950 RPM with the lights on. it seems to work fine for now, but once I fix the A/C ill probably want the IAC to work.

My computer at work's Google Chrome seems to have liked that google chrome extension, so at least when I'm at work I can see pictures one here.

I think the A/C has it's own component to raise the idle when the A/C is turned on.
