What can your code reading device do? Just read codes or can you get live data from the PCM, like coolant temps and such?

Well...today I get a good high idle at cold and it goes down to 900-1000 when hot. So...idk...seems okay now.
What I do notice different is when you rev, the rams don't fall right back to idle, it takes like 4-5 seconds to finally get back to idle...Is that normal?
And should the pcv valve be a see through tube essentially??
thx

It sounds like you car is functioning normal.

I don't think you should be able to look staright through the pcv valve. Sounds like you should just replace it.

Yes, it is normal for it to take a few seconds to fall back down to idle.

PCV should have a check ball in there, rattle when you shake it, able to blow though it one direction, and not in the other direction.

Thank you woodie, . There is something wrong with my pcv, you can blow through both directions and there is nothing in the passageway...So, maybe thats part of the problem? But again, seems okay right now. Saved two bucks from Rock auto...YAY
If the idle isn't going all the way back down, does that mean that it is running rich?? or just correct fuel mix with a little too high rpm? The fuel air mix isn't affecting the idle speed right?

If you have a leaky injector at idle it can effect the rpm. It would be lower than normal. You would need a scan tool that can give live data for the short and long term fuel trim to see what it is doing.

well...I drove it kinda hard for a few days and then out to Austin at 120Kph, and I noticed today that its back to where it used to be when its idling and did go up to fairly high idle at startup..So...maybe it needed to get blown out?? PCV valve will be in tomorrow and see what that does too...I only moved that idle set screw enough to see light in the gap. ..so barely..and if it gets any lower..idling...then I'll put it back where I found it.
Just a GrEaT little car.

Well hell yeah, the old PCV is blow through, no check ball, no diaphragm, no point in it being in there at all in that condition..

Idle seems just right now with a functioning pvc and putting the idle set screw back where I found it.. I'll be interested to see how it acts in the cold.

Enjoy it while it is working right. That's the thing about obdii. Sometimes the idle just does weird things one day and works right the next.
