whining sound a bit when first warming up in the morning in cold weather. Its hard to describe the sound. maybe its like the sound of the turning of the water pump or oil pump . This sound is not a squeal of a loose belt. It maybe sounds like a pulley or something. I have heard it on other cars, and always wondered what it was. Is it the pulley turning things the belt wind around need lubrication? Could it be the timing mechanisms? any thoughts? The sound goes away when engine has warmed up a little.

The sound changes as the engine rpm's change too? Possibly a bearing. Water pump, timing belt tensioner, bearing in the alterantor. You could take the belt off the water pump and then start it up when cold and see if the sounds goes away. That could at least help eliminate some possibilities.

do you perhaps have power steering? PS pump will whine a bit when cold.

A failing bearing seems to whine or have a gravelly, wow wow sound rather than a squeal.

Or in cold weather it might be a rodent nesting in your blower fan housing complaining that you woke it up a bit too early.

Long boring video, but does it sound like at minute 2:58? :hmm

All engines tend to complain at zero to -30 degrees. ^o)
Good to let them breath/warm up, a little, before taking off. :cheers

Tryn Hard!!

Could be the transmission. Mine seems to whine on colder days even with Synchromesh. 5th gear is worse lol
