I've never been on any social media platform, for the reasons already given. The 1st amendment probably does cover these issues, but you'd have to hire an attorney, and spend a ton, just to get some kind of justice. There was a kid, under 18 I think, who was thrown in the slammer for a facebook post. He never threatened any specific person, but they decided that the content warranted it.
What do you mean? The 1st amendment says that the gov't shall make no law.....

It does not cover these issues.

i hit the delete button and within 14 days my facebook presence will be gone for good.

more on my co-worker's offense. he posted a copied meme that showed a group of chimps wearing tool belts and holding hammers, etc. the written post below the stock internet image said, "we are working this saturday."

he was a good employee with 7 years of service having had no previous disciplinary actions - terminated. :whistle

2nd Amendment? :hmm

And here I always thought that phrase was just a caption under one of the the three chimps. You know the one..."see no evil, hear no evil, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of evil"

I keep wanting to but cant seem to drop the facebook habit. I pretty much use it like any other forum though spend most of my time following groups based around my hobbies chatting with people that aren't my "friends"
:gp

I love it and I hate it. Such a waist of time... :banghead Seems to be at least 90% garbage and MAYBE 10% good stuff. I'm hooked though... :ashamed

Good for you Richard. :thumb

In today's "gotcha" climate, it's just not worth taking the risk. People are loosing careers because of one off hand remark. It seems that one third of the public get up in the morning looking for some reason to be offended.

Yes, people looking to be offended is one of the favorites on FB. It seems many there have nothing better to do but create drama. In my business, advertising on FB has always brought me the dregs of society. I also call it "antisocial media" because these people always tend to be the troublemakers that I run into.

Then there are the "fake news" people. I always have to sort through both liberal and conservative fake news as well.

FB has its use but isn't something I care to spend my entire day on. I get people who comment that they message me but I don't respond immediately. I had it on my phone but took it off as I was sick of getting dings every few seconds. I could care less.

What I absolutely love (hate?) about the news people is they always forward these "news" articles that are so ridiculously fake. You look at news source and it's some weird off hand title. It's so pathetic and so many people believe it. (Yes, both left and right). I can't believe it when I see a family member re posting those things.

I agree about people sitting at home and causing drama. The worst....absolute worst people are the early 20s stay at home single mothers. I still don't get how you can be single and a stay at home mom and pay the bills? They will go crazy and repost the smallest thing making it a mountain out of a spec of dirt (not even a mole hill). They should be watching their kids. They have nothing better to do with their life than to bring people down. Another group is older ladies that are retired and people that watch shows like "the view".

Trash will bring successful people down. Do not give them any ammo. They don't care about anyone but themselves. Those are the types of people that piss me off like no other. I've seen several people brought down by them. 1 very small thing and they act like the person should lose their job....Fuck those people. Pieces of shit.

i deal with the public every day and i am never surprised by people who think that because i work for the city, they own me.

i have to deal with verbal abuse daily from these types. i want to put them straight but then i also would like to keep my job for another 2 years and 4 months so i can retire and keep all of the money i paid into my pension. i usually force a smile and get away from them. ;)

i don't seem to be having any facebook withdrawal. :whistle

All news in general has an agenda , weather , local , national , international , true fake or flat out lies It All Has An Agenda
People in general (excluding GMF because if you're part of this community have some common sense ) need to stop believing everything they're told an do they're own thinking
If people started doing there own thinking half of the world issues would disappear
FB along with all the other social media is a successful way of institutionalizing people's minds around their agenda
America needs wake up !

My Facebook is 100% for promoting my business. No politics. No discussion of events in my personal life. Not even anything funny, except for one video of a malfunctioning washing machine making rhythmic noises and someone singing along. My personal account (required to have a business account) has only the picture of a close relative (who actually did resemble me, back in his day) and a note directing any chance visitors to my business page.

I disabled my facebook account today but so far I haven't deleted it-one of my "friends" posted a link today of a mother who accepted a "friend" request from a stranger-I could see my self doing that because I accepted 95% of my "friend" requests (even from strangers) because I don't like to hurt people's feelings-this women's "friend" then found out lot's of information about this women's 5 year old daughter by monitering the account-he then supposedly kidnapped the girl to use as a sex slave-if they can put a man on the moon someone should be able to prevent this from happening (I guess the mother can) I just don't want to be associated with an outfit like that where something like that could happen-if I were Zuck and that happened to me I would dismantle the company (not sell it) and pray for God's forgiveness-so I guess I will be getting my discussion entertainment on this forum and the local newspaper-facebook totally sucks-

Someone could come on here and gather information about someone for nefarious purposes. For one thing it's blatantly obvious that many of us are out of town the first weekend in August. If someone comes and breaks into my house and garage, knowing that no one will be home they're scum, but I put the information out there. If I started blaming Johnny Mullet/Geometroforum, then I'm scum.

It's not Facebook's fault that people post way too much about themselves, and that other people are horrible barbarians.

I'm totally awesome! I swear.

Personally, if it was totally up to me, I'd want nothing to do with Facebook, or any other type of internet based social media, but my CAR insists on having its own account, at geometroforum.com, so it can keep up with every little thing that goes on in the lives of all its Metro friends. I'm merely the vehicle through which it operates. My car probably has more friends than I do. Sometimes, I feel so used. *sigh*
