Now that I think about it, reminds me of those "shake charging" flashlights that were everywhere back in 2006. I bought a few different brands and within 3 years, they were all dead. They had a cheap LED and a 3v button cell lithium in them. Shaking did not charge them at all. They lasted about as long as an LED keychain flashlight. Starting to think that the battery powers the unit. the little solar panel may do nothing at all - at least in the HF helmets. |

My eyes are not something I take a chance with it... I have a Lincoln auto darkening welding helmet with a wide lens and it does the job quite well...

I just got the Baisidai Auto Darkening Welding Helmet lens replacement. Took me maybe 5 minutes to install it. The dial outside the helmet comes off by pulling on it and gently rock the knob. the adjustment switch is held in place with a nut that can easily be twisted off with fingers, but a pair of pliers or wrench is better. The lens itself is held in place with a kind of spring clip. Pop out the lense mechanism and slide the new one in. FITS PERFECTLY! Put the new knob in, making sure to line the little black, plastic stud with the alignment hole next to the knob hole on the helmet. Tighten down the nut and stick the knob on it. DONE! It has better controls than the original chicago electric/harbor freight lens. Dials to control speed and contrast vs. the one click slow/fast and low/high switches. I got it on amazon for around $10. https://www.amazon.com/Baisidai-Darkening-Welding-Helmet-Automation/dp/B01N5K4FI5/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515858617&sr=sr-1&keywords=Baisidai Edited by BillHoo, Jan 13 2018, 10:59 AM.

Back in the days before there was such a thing as the bikini wax, many of your Nair-do-well women had to resort to using things like an accelerant, and a spark!, to obtain an effective depilatory. And thus, similar to Moses, good ole Noah, in the days before Naamah's untimely demise, most certainly would have had opportunity to, gaze upon a burning bush: "I shield my eyes. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy. Damn, if only this cheap welding helmet, from Hebrew Freight, came with a respirator attachment, too. I really hate the smell of burning hair!" Okay, that last one may have been a bit rude. My appologies to all you biblical-literalist-feminine-hygienist-chaetopobia-afflicteds, if I, in any way, accidentally or unwittingly, offended your delicate olfactory senses with that imagery. Mea culpa. It won't happen again. Until the next time. Promise. |

I just looked at my welding helmet, which I installed new batteries in and then used for the very first time just last week, and it's a Jackson EQC Journeyman V-HTLS. It looks like it's a discontinued model. I rarely ever weld with it, I just like to put it on from time to time, and then scare our cats with it, pretending to be Darth Welder, using my best James Earl Jones voice:. "Cats, I'm your father." They totally freak the fuk out, when I do that. |

THIS IS 100% FALSE ! EVERYONE BEWARE.......This is not only 100% FALSE, but it is also DANGEROUS! No matter what you may have read, this is 100% FALSE ! I have been welding in my career for 40+ years and can confirm this from personal experience, tech school training, employer safety training, OSHA training, and MSHA training. Just the difference of one shade too light can cause flash burn. HOW IN THE FUCK do you think a clear cover plate will protect you? I can not even believe ANYONE would make this statement. I can only hope it does NOT get repeated. |

over the sides. Her peasant dress became accidentally snagged on the bucket and she went overboard with it. Poor, Naamah.
