As I drive around my area I haven't seen many Metro/Swift type cars... but over the last week I have seen 2 Metros, both white in color, one was a 2 door hatch the other was a 4 door LSi... First angry owner I met about a week back, it was the 2 door hatch at a gas station. The guy left his car running while he filled it with gas, I asked if the Metro was having any problems... just got the "evil eye" as a response... well have fun with your broken car ya jerk hope my family isn't filling up with gas when your running car goes BOOM and takes the station with it...Then last night on my way home from a "Disney On Ice" show, I was driving North bound I-25 in our turbod Subaru doing about 70 mph (car gets around 36mpg at that speed) around the Budweiser factory when this little white blur of a car flies past us... Mrs. said "You're just going to let that little white metro get away?!?" "That little white blur was a Metro?!?" I ask... "4 door, Chevy Metro LSi I think was what I read on the back" I hit the gas to catch back up... I didn't want to get a fatty ticket so I kept the speed around 85 to 87 and I was barely catching up when the speed touched 87... We finally catch up to the car and sure enough it is a 4 door Metro LSi ......... holy sheit they are braking hard, don't see anything in front of them, time to change lanes and pass........ as I fly past still going about 85 all I can see is a girl giving me the finger ok...... get in front of her and go about my business.... next thing I see she is catching back up (we are doing 75 by this time) flashing her brights at me and trying to gain enough speed to get along side and in front of me..... not going to happen.... 30% throttle + 10 psi boost = a little white speck in the rear view mirrors used to eating Mustangs for dinner, guess the Subaru just needed a snack...I met around 50 people at Mullets place and none of them acted this way even when their car was towed into the driveway they still had a easygoing/care free attitude, I figured everyone who drove a Metro would have a similar fun loving attitude... but I was clearly wrong, angry and jealous asshats drive these cars too If you have a story or encounter with an "angry Metro driver", feel free to share them...

Maybe the girl was prettygurluglycar from on here after a couple members questioned her being real, lol. Running your car while filling up wont make your car explode, lol. Using a cell phone may cause a spark, smoking will blow up your self, or any static electricity spark from dry air and wool coat can cause problems. I dont fill up the gas when the car is running hardly at all but have done it in below zero weather. |

Never had experiences with angry metro drivers, but i was driving down the highway around midnight one night. The only car around me was coming up behind me (alberta plates, im in BC) Im letting them pass and as they do, the passenger gave me a . So i took it as they liked my metro lol. I think they were in a cavalier or sunfire or other. But havent come across any angry metro drivers. Yet anyhow. There are a few metro drivers in my area, most seem to be 50-65 age range, but i never get any “looks” from them so its hard to tell if they are potential “forumers”. |

I think this sort of reflects how some drivers feel whenever a Metro is in front of them for any reason.. I get people cutting me off all the time for no reason.. just to be in front of the Metro. I'm not bothered by it anymore as I would much rather that they choose to attach themselves to the next car's rear bumper as they head down the road .. |

I've seen that stuff too while cruising in the red Metro LSi even if I'm going the speed limit (GPS verified not speedo, speedo is a few mph slow depending on the speed you are actually driving) people will still have to ride your bumper, then pass and cut you off for no reason... so me going the maximum speed limit in the slow lane is somehow messing with their life it's called a "fast/passing" lane for a reason, look for motorcycles/vehicles in your blind spots and learn to use it (I'm sure everyone knew this already) But the Mrs. said everything joking around because I didn't even notice it was a little Metro, I always point out every car I see that I or the kiddo likes while we are out driving and I've been missing out on seeing Metros (seen maybe 10 total outside the forum meet)... we both didn't care it passed us doing 85 and she didn't expect me to actually catch up to it I wouldn't have even passed or kept the girl behind us with a huge grin on my face if she didn't brake hard from 85, proceed to give me the finger as we flew past still going 85, flash the lights at us trying to catch up (brights doesn't bother me, auto dimming mirror ) and pass... then probably repeat the whole brake check deal... I was giving her 7 or more car lengths distance just trying to see what had car passed us a few miles back no reason for any hostility oh well it was a fun night out and the Forester was fed without having to work hard for it Mrs. and I both the little Metro cars, they are great cars for many things but it's not for our family night out when I have several other bigger/newer/faster/safer cars loaded with luxuries that can get similar mpg if I keep my eco driving foot turned on and my heavy leaded racing foot turned off

No, no exploding at first but it can start a fire and that could be a potential "BOOM" in the near future... cars catching fire while engine is running happens more then you would think https://youtu.be/wb52qx_aEUc Edited by Azhule, Dec 8 2017, 03:08 PM.

I'm probably considered one of these people. I hate when people ask me if my car is going to make it, or what's going to fall off next, does it run ok? Yea my car has thousands of dollars sunk into it and it handles drives and runs like a beast. Just because it's old does not mean its in bad shape. Filling up while its running? I never shut my car off so guess we should never fill up at the same station. Would i have raced you in your Subaru? No i know when I'm beat, then when you are whooped, never do the ricer fly by that's a big L written on your face. So for her to do the fly by was lame on her there are these people around here that drive these massive lifted trucks got sorta dick moved by one the other day and i just so happened to be going to the same Walmart i pulled in just behind him and parked a car away, really short probably 5'8" guy hops out, i sorta gave him the size up being 6'7" as we walked in to the store, little rat just scurried away i pretty much came to the conclusion he's not so macho with out his truck.

Reminds me of one alien from the Men in Black movie ![]() Metros driven in anger don't actually appear to be driven thst way.. they seem to just be accelerating gently..( except T3ragtop in his gt vert, stiffchezze in his g16 vert, or one day...ephemeral glade in his j18 metro) Edited by suzukitom, Dec 8 2017, 05:43 PM.

I don't generally get angry, but I often get annoyed at Metro and Prius drivers. Not all of them, just the eco drivers. Eco drivers suck. |

For me seeing another Metro is rare so I'd be happy even if there cranky drivers Transporting oversized loads for a living I have excepted to expect drivers to be distracted , selfish and stupid but on the occasion kind , considerate and caring Edited by MPG, Dec 8 2017, 11:57 PM.

I make it a point to honk and wave every time I see someone else driving one. Seems most of them don't share my enthusiasm...

I have had pickup drivers ride my ass and hit the high beams because they want to play with a little car. one time I got out at a stop light because a 5-ton rider rental guy was riding my ass big time. Driving the smallest car on the road , you have to learn |
