http://fox4kc.com/2017/12/01/pizza-delivery-driver-shoots-and-kills-man-who-attempts-to-rob-him/ Dec 1, 2017 One of the men hit the man in the head with a gun. The man fired shots while the pizza deliverer ran back to his vehicle. He returned fire with his own handgun. The driver was not hit during the gunfire exchange. The second robber ran away. |

That could be a slippery slope for the driver.... Dead bodies always have skeletons.... and crosses to bear. Self defense is not what it once was. and gun fight shootouts are not the accepted method of solving a dispute anymore. 21st Century brings much government oversight and legal snares unlike the 6 gun justice of the 19th century before the wars. |

This wasn't a 'dispute'. He was being ROBBED at gunpoint. Was the driver's gun in his car or on his person? The story is sort of vague. Now, if he is running back to his vehicle to escape, pulls the gun he has in his pocket, then returns fire on the way to his car, that is one thing. Not too slippery there. If his gun is in his car, the robbers are pursuing him towards his car, he gets to his car and his gun, and he returns fire to keep them from advancing any further, not much of a slippery slope there, either. If his gun is in his car, he goes and gets it, runs back into the fray, and winds up killing one of these scumbags...well, that one might be pretty slippery. It's pretty easy for the driver to claim self-defense in this situation, particularly if lead is flying at him. And it apparently was. I am not sure this would even come down to who shot first. A reasonable person would have to assume that two armed robbers intended to do bodily harm (they more than likely stated as much), and even people delivering pizza have a right to defend themselves. Had the driver not done what he did, THIS may have been the result...from the same page, same town. Pizza driver beaten, life-threatening injuries It's a dangerous job. One of my coworkers was robbed last week. They were kids who just snatched the pizza and took off, but still. Shooting a person is always going to be a last resort. But if it comes down to a choice between him being dead or me having brain bleeding all the way down my spinal cord, guess which one I am picking? |

What I hate about this article is how the writer recorded the shooter as Caucasian and the robbers as African-American.... TOTALLY IRRELEVANT!!! It was a case of two men attempting to rob another, and one of the men received their comeuppance....PERIOD!! |

Oh, puhleeze! Tell me you're not insinuating that Fox news, of all news establishments, would have any bias in their reporting? Shame on you! In reality, by them giving you the races of the (alleged) perpetrators, as well as the would-be victim, they're merely doing us a public service, in narrowing down the gene pool of prospective suspects, for the the one that's still at large, but not yet Points in fact: per a recent census, African-Americans currently make up approx 12.3% of the US population. Added, or should we say, deducted, from that, Women, currently make up approx 50.8% of the US population. So you see, |

That guy deserves a medal! He just save taxpayers a lot of money. I agree with GeoStalker. Race is ALWAYS brought up. Before you know it, articles will be posted as "WHITE judge sentences black person to prison for murder"..... instead of "Murderer receives life sentence" |

Sure. But I think you're conflating Fox, Fox News, and Fox affiliates when in reality they should be viewed independently for reporting purposes. The Fox affiliates can be as liberal as CNN or MSNBC. Fox News, however, tends to be the conservative national news source. Case in point: Here in Columbus, OH we have NBC Channel 4 news, and I think they are fairly conservative in their reporting, even though their parent company (and various spinoffs) tend to be otherwise. I suppose those on one side of the aisle could look at this story and think "Great, Fox News wanting to show how two black men tried to rob a white man!" But those on the other side could look at it and say "With all the recent tensions in Ferguson, MO (a 3 hour drive down I-70 from Kansas City) this reporter wanted to perpetuate the narrative of white men shooting black men." Either way, the story should be devoid of the amount of pigment in one's skin and instead be focused on the rights of individuals to protect their property and lives. |

The driver will be fine. It's a very very very slim chance that the driver decided to murder someone. Would be a sneaky plan though. The killer finds out what pizza place the victim orders from, gets a job and works there for 6 months. Finally gets a call to deliver to the victims house and Pow pow. Driver uses an excuse like the person was attacking him etc. |

Agreed. There are times, places, and news stories, where reporting their races would be appropriate to reveal, and relevant, but, at least with that one, it wasn't. And, to be fair, there is all manner of bias present in today's news reporting, on both sides, not just with Fox. Nonetheless, the prevailing attitudes, and influence on their affiliates, from "Fox On High", pervades their prevailing, conservative-bias, sentiments. |
