I toyed with the idea of getting the HF one, right after you did your review thread on it, but hesitated and didn't go through with it. At the time, it let me put it in the on-line basket and use a coupon code toward it, that would have brought it down to $230, IIRC. Now, they're going for $260, and they won't let you use a coupon. I've tried it several times, with different codes. I think, despite the fact that the HF has very good overall reviews, where I can get the Milwaukee setup, minus a cheap plastic box to carry everything around in, for $330, I'd be more inclined to drop the extra $70, just for the piece of mind and the legendary Milwaukee tool quality. Sadly, Milwaukee appears to be the ONLY really good, and what I would call "industrial/professional quality, tool brand made. Porter Cable sold out years ago, and is now nothing more than low-grade, "Black & Decker" quality, consumer junk. Likewise, Bosch, that used to make a really good tool, has begun going down that road of appealing to your average homeowner consumer, and is producing junk, too. I'm wondering just how long Milwaukee can, and/or will, hold out, before they cave in to the competitive economic pressures, brought on by low-grade Chinese imports, sold at Wal-Mart, for "$omething.88" you can afford, but not count on to last or to do a real day's work with. |

I've been considering this one for myself. Reviews on it are very good and the price is not bad, plus all my stuff is already makita so that makes it an easy choice. Haven't pulled the trigger yet though. Makita 1/2" Impact Wrench |

PTA sums it up pretty well. You can get the Milwaukee for just a little more than the Harbor Freight... Plus once you get that battery you are kind of stuck with Harbor Freight Tools. Now if the Harbor Freight was 170, be a completely different story. I think the next major breakthrough will be when one of those very powerful impacts are more compact for example half the length Etc |

With the motor size necessary for the electric stuff, it seems unlikely they will be able to reduce a whole lot....seems like the half size and compact air stuff is really taking off, but the torque is just not there to be your only gun, whereas the 1/2 full size stuff, both pneumatic and cordless seem to be getting higher and higher torque ratings, with little regard to size...another reason I like the Mac/proto/dewalt stuff....the weighting of their guns is so different.... Our snap on rep told us that they recognize Milwaukee as their number one competitor in the power tools department...I think in an era of reduced quality and a throw away and replace attitude replacing a fix it and keep using it attitude, Milwaukee has done an excellent job of maintaining or even improving the quality of their tools, while remaining accessible both pricewise and retail wise to professionals, home DIYers and casual hobbyists all at the same time... |

While a lot of people may think, or even try to tell you, that this thing doesn't put out enough torque to get the job done, and is only capable of mere child's play, when it comes to cordless impact drivers, well, I'm here to tell you, this thing here, is the REAL deal, yesiree. Why, I not only managed to drive in and then extract both of the blue plastic screw looking thingies, but the grey, whateverthefucktheyare, thingies, as well, over a half-dozen times, and without it even breaking a sweat, or needing to be recharged. Now that, is some serious torque, by gosh. I give this tool, by Fisher Price, two opposable thumbs up. Yeah, buddy!
