Merry Christmas! We actually got just enough snow to cover the grass and wake up to a white Christmas. It came in late last night. |

That must be what we have coming this way. It's going to get cold here. It's zero right now. I'm hoping to go ice fishing for perch on Wed. Ken............. |

It was a bit cloudy in Phoenix. The sun poked through a little. Temps in mid 60s. Not bad for Christmas and great driving weather. |

Oh, I can think of at least one other - in a different profession, that falls into that, skat-for-brains, category. As for the temp's, I just checked my local forecast, and they're calling for it to get down in the single digits here, the next few nights. For us here in NC, that's bitter cold. And as for Old Man Winter, I've got a single digit for him. .....No, not that one.

i shoveled 4 inches of the white stuff this morning from the sidewalks and driveway at my house. it was all of about 15 degrees while i was doing that. right now it's around 5 with a wind chill below the goose egg. i've had enough - canada can turn off the big fan now.

" Canada can turn off the big fan now." Really, Stop it...Like I have said before, all it has to do is threaten "Ice or Snow" and central Texas shuts down... Well now they are predicting 20°'s and sleet starting this afternoon...We started at 42°@6am and have dropped to 34° already, I know this doesn't even phase you north of the Mason Dixon line people, But for us thin blooded southern people all I can say is "DANG" To top it off...here we have possibly 2 "sanding" (sand, with less than 10% sodium chloride mix) trucks that haven't been used since the 90's for the whole county and even those Mules don't like the cold... |

-37*c this morning -0.4*c in my crawl space under house (its actually almost a ''walk-space''- just over 6 feet in height) p.o. had heat tape under there before, but its not there anymore. plus I have poly pipes. been here for 5+ years, never had an issue with freezing. kid used the atv to plow snow. even had a hard time doing that. hey, the cold air is coming from SIBERIA, not Canada, we are just passing it along to the less fortunate, cuz its better to give than receive....... its a ''cold weather endurance'' test, brought to you by the makers of muk-luks, dog-sleds, winter tires , block-heaters and antifreeze. now if you don't mind, I need to go plug in my horse...... |

What, you couldn't have gone a mere 3 degrees colder, so that those of us below the 49th parallel, wouldn't have to try and figure out the conversion to Fahrenheit?

i know that we are a week past christmas but in columbus we have 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground, a light powder falling now that may add another 1/2" by the end of the day. the brutal part is that the temps are in single digits after dark with life threatening wind chills. salt and chemical treatments to combat ice don't work at these temps which makes driving after dark an art that escapes most people and auto crashes leave people standing or walking in these life threatening temps. add new year's eve driving combined with alcohol consumption and you have the recipe for disaster. home will probably be the best place to be tonight.

We're at -17 right now with a -32 windchill and have over 12'' on the ground . My snowblower quits running after it gets hot and won't start again for about two hours which really sucks. One good thing about it all is that since I retired at the end of Nov. I don't have to get up at some ungodly hour and go plow the streets anymore. Ken....... |
