Another thing is that pushing these little engines isn't really a bad thing. If you put around all the time, you can allow deposits to build up in the head/valves, etc. Then when you need the extra power, you heat them up and burn a valve.

Make sure you have clean oil of the correct weight and you should be good. Another thing if you are new to these cars is definitely the weight. If you use too thick, you can overpump a lifter and burn valves that way. Valves are kinda the weak link on these engines. You could probably get away with 10W30 in the summer but I wouldn't do it, especially with your city driving. 10W30 might make sense if you were doing long highway trips in warm weather. Stay with a quality synthetic 5W30, 0W40,, 5W40, 0W30, etc. and you will be fine. Some have gotten away with a thinner oil like 0W20 if their engine is tight.

Certain synthetics have a higher percentage of "true" synthetic oil than others. Mobil 1 European as well as the EP variants have a lot more Group 4 vs. the Group 3 oils which are really just highly refined and processed conventional oils. There is nothing wrong with these oils and they exceed the specs for when these engines were made. It is just you can get an even better oil without spending any more money.
