I don't like the look of them at all. Do they have more noise than the Mklll newer geos. The article said they were noisy. I had a 94 and insulated all but the hood, quieter but still too noisy for me. I got a 98 geo and very much quieter in stock dress. In fact I can listen to the radio at an okay level at 70MPH in my 98... that is pretty quiet to me. If I insulate the hood in my 98 it will be even quieter. I have AC in my 98 that blows ice cold in 105F in the summer. In 10F it still blow hot hot. All good. I plan to add CC to it soon.

Any one know how the MPG is on the Mirages in the winter time...? and summer as well.... do they actually do as well as the geos?

If I bought a new car, with new car smell and extras it would probably be this very Mirage in discussion. Warranties, MPG and price for this Mirage seem great. :news

"Noisy" depends on what the car is being compared to. Other $12k-ish cars? A new S-Class? I can tell you the car isn't what I'd call quiet. But...

When I went from my '97 3/5 Metro to my '15 Mirage ES, the noise comparison was like going from a '72 VW Beetle to a '72 Buick LeSabre.

'Nuff said... :thumb

Noise dampening doesn't cost much if you do it yourself.

I test drove a 2017 manual mirage for fun. I like the 2017 because it is the only model year where you could get manual and cruise control from the factory, but comparing it to my metro. my metro shifts and handles better and has pretty much the same pick up and gas mileage. the geo metro is just more fun and feels more grounded.

I think the mirage has a lot more weight due to modern safety regulations and air bags and so on. since its engine is 77 hp I think it would be a blast to swap that engine into a much lighter geo metro, if that was possible. they are both tiny size engines. does anyone know if that is possible? in a few years I can imagine finding a mirage in the junk yard that was in an accident and pull the engine.

When I took a test drive with iwantageometro in her Mirage briefly last year the quiet impressed me. I however don't know how loud a mk3 should be... But I think it was a bit quieter than a mk4. Also impressive the smoothness of the engine, and this is comparing to a 230 psi Glenngine, seriously you might never know it was a I3 not an I4(both engines had roughly the same miles at the time). I was less than impressed with side view, I almost felt blind changing lanes looking back comparing to a Metro. I also stalled the first time I tried to take off :smackface , something that never happens to me in Metros(well I stalled when I slid in the ditch since taking it out of gear was the last thing on my mind as that happened...)

Really not. Some more weight is emphasis enough.

2014 Mirage 3/5 1973 lb
1995 sedan 4/5 1940 lb
1995 hatch 3/5 1808 lb

The engine in the Mirage is more powerful, but it is also a much more efficient 21st-century design. DOHC, high compression, variable valve timing, etc. The 3A92 is not an '80s design like the G10. That is why the Mirage can get similar economy numbers to a Metro while having more weight and more power.

There’s already a 70hp engine that requires very little work to bolt up to a Geo. And another 100hp that’s not much more work.
