Importing a Double Expresso Cappuccino; Never Seen One Live

With the 21 & 25 year laws concerning importing EPA/DOT lacking
compliance vehicles now solidly in our favor...
what's the verdict on the little Cappuccino 2 seater? I guess I'm
wondering about how light-weights like these hold up living 25 years
in Japan. There are more available now already in the states but I'd
probably look into importing one directly from Japan cause I have
connections to importers/exporters due to my work in dealing with
these guys for 30 or so years at the ports. The importing part would
not be a problem for me but before I got super-cereal serious,
I wonder if it's a different world over there as far as rust/wear/maintenance goes.

Probably couldn't get my wide hide in one but she sure likes the looks of em.

Yeah I was guessing I might be overloading the little guy. But I found out the extra weight actually helped in a downhill situation when I was a kid...until I centered a sturdy loblolly in a pine thicket at the bottom of the hill and drove a 16 penny nail into an area where it wasn't s'posed to go. Bow legged for a few days but no harm to the overall package. 2 beautiful Kentucky daughters and now grandkids. :-)

Buy 'Em Up! Now!

What company are you using to import the car?

I would actually use a dealer/buyer that has been exporting cars from the US to Middle East/Africa and other parts of the world. My brothers and I have moved umpteenthousands from point of purchase all over US to east coast ports mostly but have worked in and around Long Beach and other SoCal ports. According to where it comes from which buyer I'd call on. Many live over there and travel back and forth...sometimes setting up shop for a while over here...according to what their visas permit.

Ideally for me would be to find one in a Euro market...IF they were even sold there. Bringing it in to an east coast port would be much better for me. I am friends with some folks that handle the import/export port operations in the mid-Atlantic area.

I'm just in the looking pricing stage now.

:gp This. Very cute, but designed by Japanese people 30 years ago FOR Japanese people 30 years ago.

You are probably safe if you are under, say, 5'10" and 175 pounds.

Importation is largely dependent on what state you live in. Here in Washington it's pretty easy. What I would really be concerned about is what your insurance company thinks of these cars... :deal Would suck to buy one and find out that it costs a fortune to insure every month or, worse yet, won't be covered by your insurance company at all.

A lot of insurance companies here in Ontario / Canada will not insure right hand drive vehicles any more :cheers

If they are truly a foot and a half SHORTER than a Fiat 500...deal breaker. I was thinking Honda s2000 size looking at pics and then I went to some specs.

That's tiny...real tiny...shorter than my wheelbarrow

Here's a site that can give you a good idea of the size, availability, mileage, etc. Great pics, shows mileage, cost to import to the closest US port to you. Not just the Cappuccino but any import you may have an interest in.
