I don't hate any of the cars in question, I just view the mirage as a turd. |

There will NEVER be another car as simple to work on as the Metro. Laws have mandated electronics such as backup cameras and traction control so even the cheapest and most basic car sold today will still have electronics like the Mirage. I agree that this stinks but is the way it is. Eventually it will cost so much to keep the Metros going. Parts are still easy to come by today but I don't know how much longer that will last. You can pretty much pick from the Kia Rio, Chevy Spark, Nissan Versa, Ford Fiesta, etc. for new cheap cars that get good mileage besides the Mirage. The two cheapest are the Mirage and the Versa but I haven't heard a lot good about the Versa so avoided that one. I kinda like the Spark which technically is the Metro successor. Conor |

You have said it is a turd....which most econo cars are, but what makes it "turdier" than a metro? |

The problem with some of those car are the price. I haven't really shopped around, but when I see some of those in the $14k range, I laugh. |

Not sure on the mitsu mirahe engine reliability. A coin flif you trade your car in before the warranty is up then maybe the mirage is a great choice...or if you just see it as something like a disposable appliance like a lot of people get rid of then it doesn't matter I guess more power to ya. If one is bad just throw down some cash for a new one. . Might as well get a new Honda or toyota with some corenthian leather and butt/ testicle heaters if you are going to make payments on it. The kei cars in Japan. 996cc and turbo or super charged. Weighs less, probably 100x funner and cheaper if they would allow them here. well you can import a lot of the cool older ones now ![]() I dont know that's just like my opinion though man. . |

if evmetro's cars are regarded by society as turds, then I guess I must be a turd enthusiast. I test drove a Mirage. It felt most like my old Metro automatic sedan in terms of driving feel.. smoother ride but with less character thanyou get with Metro hatchbacks. I note that here, you can get a real Mirage stripper with no A/C for $10K Cdn. before taxes. Styling is subjective but the Mirage body proportions look off to me. Too tall beltline, too short a hood, no 3 door option, and a beam rear axle. With probably a million Metro/Swift variants built worldwide over the last 29 years,I wouldn't worry about parts availability any time soon. Basic cars will have fans forever. You can still buy new 1928 Model T Edited by suzukitom, Jan 20 2018, 12:08 AM.

It's like the love child between an Elio, and a Corbin Sparrow. It's ugly as sin, but that wouldn't stop me from possibly buying one, if only the price were right. At $15,500 US, that's too steep, for my blood. I'd sooner buy a used Nissan Leaf, or Fiat 500e, for around $8k to $9k, which are much nicer, larger, and better appointed, cars, but with a similar range, and have enough left over to pay for the replacement battery pack for it, after 6 or 8 years of service. Look at the front hoodline. Pretty crude. For that level of craftsmanship, I'd expect a sub-$10k price, not $15,500. |

That car is hideous.....$15k....no thanks. I don't care what the features are or how great the MPGs are on it. |

if you unplug the speed governor it can run about half an hour at 137 mph before you need to recharge it. Here in BC, our electricity is mostly from hydroelectric, so equivalent mpg e is probably 200+ |
