As far as I know, the color of window washer fluid or coolant isn't very specific, so it isn't a good indicator on it's own. |

Window washer fluid comes in many colors. Pink and blue, and yellow are common. Pink usually is a summer formula with detergents to loosen bugs, and without additives to prevent freezing. Blue usually is a winter formulation and will resist freezing. Yellow typically has a water repellant ingredient that allows rain to bead up, and stream off your windshield at highway speeds without needing to switch on your wipers. Antifreeze coolant for your engine's radiator also comes in many colors but typically is much thicker than the watery formulations used for windshield washing. |

First off, my posting was entirely facetious. I find it a tad bit sad that that fact was, obviously, lost on you. However, I do apologize, both to you and to all the readers of your thread, that were, apparently, forced to suffer through such a waste of valuable thread real estate and internet bandwidth. Feel free to PM me, if you feel need for the services of a competent therapist in your area. My brother-in-law is in the business and has connections. I may even be able to get you a discount. Truly, I'm glad that you appear to have found a mechanic, one that is both adept, and honest. I wish you all the best with your Geo Metro repairs, and continued ferrying about from your faithful steed. All that said, a note to the wise - in the future, if you're going to post about foot toenail hygiene, perhaps you should try and reserve it for threads entitled "Foot Hygiene", lest you invite the pithy ire of, miscreants like me. |

OK, I did go overboard with the hygiene thing. I could have said I did not turn around because I was tired. The so-called certified mechanic cancelled on me, so I am back to square one. I don't know if I should go to a second reputable garage to get some work done on my car regarding the water pump. And now it's hesitating when I accelerate. Maybe it needs a tune up. |

What town in Oregon. We have members in Oregon and Southwest Washington state that could probably do the work for you? Maybe, don't want to speak for them but guys and gals with these cars on here know them pretty good and are very good at helping others out. IMHO, and this is just me. I have a number of Geos and have worked on Geos and other cars for a number of years. That being said I have always lived on penny's not dollars so I have had to put car repairs off and used duct tape and bubble gum to hold on until more $s were available. If it was me and my car, me not others and my budget was very tight, I would just keep checking the oil level and fluid levels and adding as needed. Summer is coming and you can add more water than antifreeze. Most cars that have a lot of miles on them have seals that leak or seep some oil/fluids. Not a big deal until you have to add a lot every other day or every week. But you must check levels regularly or your many destroy the motor. Keep looking for a friend who will do the work for beer or $100 and you supply the parts. |

Thank you for your reply. I live in Eugene, Oregon. I do get my fluids checked every week at Lube-it-USA. The fluid that I see on the cardboard is oil but they are not puddles, just drops so I get the fluids topped off. I can afford to pay someone who would come out to my place to do a general check over and I would pay for parts or beer ![]() I appreciate your input. I'm not sure where the area of this site is to find members and where they are located. |

in my opinion you didn't go overboard at all-you just gave a brief reason why you were uncomfortable and had to leave-in the past I have given a lot more details than that about certain health issues with certain people I work with seemed theropidic at the time-like I've said before I'd be glad to help if I lived closer-it's more of a pain to do the water pump on a 4 cylinder due to lack of room but doable-hope you get your problem solved soon- |

Thanks for the nice gesture if you lived closer. I might just drive it until it no longer drives anymore. It does not make any loud noises. I get the fluids topped off and maybe if I gather up enough money, I will get that water pump replaced. It's the labor that costs more than the part itself. Oh well, I thought I would check in to get some advice. I appreciate this forum very much. I wish I had taken car mechanics in school. |
