I picked up a 134 system from a later Metro a few years back, I think the whole setup from Pick N Pull was about 150 bucks. I only bought a new drier.

A/C compressor pulley is a serpentine style or V-groove?

Compressor is a serpentine style, but you will want to source the R12 or figure out what you are going to do to get set up for 134. The R12 was colder than the 134, but it is pretty hard to find these days.

Just my .02¢... :type
All new and rebuilt ac compressors are assembled to use 134a...
Replace all the "O" rings while the system is open, use the green ones because they will work with all freons...
If your using r-12 use ester oil that's needed to add when installing the compressor and drier...If using 134a your going to need pag 100 oil...
Be sure to flush the lines and cores...
if you can't get R-12, try envirosafe, it works better than r-12 and only requires one can...

I have this same kit to install on my 97. I've bought 4 seasons before and had a good experience with them.

I switched my setup to r134a when replacing my compressor vaccuum it down added ester oil and charged to (.87ish) the r12 capacity I think it’s denser or something rather. I suggest looking around a little more for a pump as I picked mine up for about 3/4 of what rockauto wanted. Also something to note is 134a could potentially seap through your old lines because it is a smaller molecule than that of r12 Though mine never did(seen it happen on a sidekick). If they do take the lines to an industrial supply store and they will gladly take the old fittings and make you a new hose that is made for 134a and for a really reasonable price. Stay cool :thumb
