my ac is working fine , 94 1.0 , but i must remove it to put on missing alt belt. there is no adjusting bolt , just a hole , unless it is broke off deep up in there. i have loosened every bolt i could see on comp bracket , still nothing gives. should i put an impact wrench on center bolt in the idler pulley ? i feeling really dumb that this tiny thing has me a little or maybe alot stumped. |

yes-loosen the center bolt to remove the tensioner-you probably won't be able to tighten the belt enough without the adjuster bolt though-at one time I used a floor jack to raise the tensioner to tighten the belt and almost got laughed off the forum but maybe that would work for you- |

thanks , i did more reading here. maybe bolt is missing and if i get one to fit , tightening the bolt should loosen the idler tension without loosening the bolt that holds pulley ? is that correct? and any idea what size bolt i need ? also pushing a drift pin in that hole instead of on the pulley with a jack is a good idea as last resort |

ok fixed. but where do i get a new adjuster? i don't know if i can get the old bolt out. it does have about 3/8 in threads showing. i just had to really get under the oil pan to see how it should work. |

ok-great-let's see if I can answer some of your questions though I have only messed with the thing once or twice (on my 96)-to adjust the belt you need to loosen the center bolt so the tensioner will go up and down and then adjust it using the long center bolt-turning the bolt clockwise causes the tensioner to go down I believe but not totally sure-when it is at the tension you want you tighten the center bolt-the adjuster bolt is about 4 in or so I would have to measure mine-you could probably take yours out and get the bolt remains out of the cylinder type receiver and take it to a hardware store and try to find a bolt that fits-it's the half inch or so sticking past the cylinder that makes contact with the bracket to make it go up or down-if you got it at the proper tension with out the adjuster bolt I would think you are ok for now- |
