Would anyone happen to know, on a 1990 3cyl/5spd what would compensate the idle speed when the A/C is turned on. In order for it to work, I have to be driving or holding the gas down. Thanks in a advance. |

There is an idle adjustment for the a/c, near the firewall center. Find the FSM posted here on the forum for more specifics. Here's a link ..... scrool down about 10 pics in. Edited by nineoneandblue, May 30 2018, 06:51 PM.

It's supposed to idle up, but might not nearly thirty years down the road. Also, if your engine is weak the idle up might not be enough. Edited by Woodie, Jun 1 2018, 05:48 AM.

Just my .02ยข...When was the last time the engine has had a compression test done? If it's been awhile start here, because this will help us in diagnosing your problem; http://geometroforum.com/topic/2574993/1/

AC control module may be bad. AC coolant temperature sensor may be bad. |

there is a capacitor (group) taped into the wiring harness, that 'directs' the idle up signal when the rwd, heater/blower, or headlights are energized. On my 96 it is taped into the harness behind the radio. hard to notice unless you looking for a bulge in the already factory taped up wiring cluster heading to the PCM. Like many 25 year old capacitors, they are likely to fail and will not message the pcm/ecm to up the idle. I do agree that a compression test is in order, and a cleaning and testing evaluation of your IAC. |
