OK guys. I know this may seem early, but I decided to start this thread to get some ideas tosses around about the next Great Lakes Geopalooza. Last time it was a great success and this time I plan on making it even better Here are a couple threads with pics and videos of the last meet........... http://geometroforum.com/topic/648073/ http://geometroforum.com/topic/659840/ I thought about making up some stickers. They would be the type with individual lettering that you stick and then peel the outer cover off to reveal. I was thinking of keeping them simple like........ GeoMetroForum.com And they would be measured to fit right across the top of the windshield or rear hatch with plain, white lettering with a cool font. I am going to get some quotes, but if it's too expensive, I may wait or throw up an interest thread and prepay a large order. That is still in the works, but we can discuss that later. Location may change. I was thinking of holding this meet right on Lake Erie. We would be right at the beach front at Lake Shore park and there will be plenty to do there. I will rent the pavilion and supply food, but just like last time, everyone can bring a little something to make it better. Since I am planning already, I am going to start getting some of the supplies and this gives time for members planning on a long trip to prepare. The date is not set in stone, but I was thinking July 25TH 2009. It is on a Saturday and after the meet, we can all go to the Drive-In theater 30 minutes away. There is lots of lodging and camping available in the area also. If you guys would like to do another "Covered Bridge Tour" we can do that especially since they recently opened the longest covered bridge in America (new construction) right here in Ashtabula County Ohio! I can even rent a porta potty and allow camping right on my property where we can have a bonfire and some quality time. I have room for at least 12 tents and cars So what are your plans and ideas about the date? As far as the location goes, well I am hosting it so it has to be here. I know some of you live on the west coast and even Canada and a trip like that would probably not be ideal for you, but maybe someone who lives out west can host their own meet. Even though last year we had people travel 12 hours or longer, everyone who made the trip said it was well worth it. Discuss................. |

Total Estimated Time: 27 hours 27 minutes Total Estimated Distance: 1720.22 miles Yikes! Thats one long road trip for me and I thought Houston was a long drive. I can make it but I would have to break it up. I have famliy in Austin and in Kansas and I can stop there and rest up. Austin and Kansas would add miles but I think it would be better for me in the long run. The long haul would be from Kansas to Ohio. |

Kansas, huh? Anywhere near Wichita? Let me know the next time you are coming up I-35, might have a mini-meet! Actually, its not bad from here. I just jump on I-135 to KC and pick up I-70 west. Its about 16 hours or so to Columbus where my wife has family. I suppose add another couple of hours to JM's area. |
